The Bulgarian national mini-football team finished second in the prestigious EMF Nations Games 2026 tournament, after losing by a narrow 0:1 to host Romania in the final match, BTA reports.
The match featured a tense and tactically sustained battle, in which the only goal came in the 38th minute and was scored by Popa. Until the very end, the Bulgarian team was looking for an equalizer, but its efforts did not lead to a change in the result. In the final minutes, the situation became even more complicated after Todor Malinov received a second yellow card and was sent off, and Galen Nenov came on in his place.
Despite the defeat, Bulgaria's performance left an excellent impression. The team included a number of debutants who demonstrated self-confidence and maturity, without worrying about the pressure of the grand final. The team showed that it can compete equally with the strongest in the world, including the most titled team in mini-football - Romania.
The silver medals are a serious achievement and a clear sign of the development of Bulgarian mini-football. The performances of the young players give reason for optimism and show that the team has the potential to be among the leading forces in the future.
