Minister of Youth and Sports Encho Keryazov congratulated Karlos Nasar upon his arrival in Sofia after he won the world weightlifting title in Ningbo, China. The Bulgarian weightlifter triumphed in the up to 95-kilogram category, winning three gold medals and setting three world records.
“I wished him to have time to devote to his family,” Keryazov said. He added that the people who were the first to believe in Nasar deserved attention after yet another major success for him.
“I know what he is going through and how busy he is with commitments,” the minister said.Three records for the world champion
Karlos Nasar won gold in the snatch with 185 kilograms. In the clean and jerk, he lifted 230 kilograms, while his total in the two disciplines was 415 kilograms. All three results are world records in the up to 95-kilogram category, also confirmed by the International Weightlifting Federation.
With his performance in Ningbo, Nasar won the fourth world title of his career. He has already returned to Bulgaria, where he was welcomed after earning yet another major accolade.
Keryazov described the achievement as important not only for Nasar and Bulgarian weightlifting, but also for sport in the country as a whole. In his words, athletes like him can serve as an example to children.
