Another Bulgarian footballer will play in the new season in the second level of Italian football – Series B, BTA reported.

This is the 18-year-old winger from Lovech, Mert Durmus, who moved to Pisa from the Sancataldese team. Bulgarian football is also represented by national players Petko Hristov in Spezia and Valentin Antov in Cremonese.

Durmus was born on October 25, 2005, he is a teenager in Litex (Lovech), and from the summer of 2023 he moved to the Apennines. He arrived at the Sancataldese team, which was competing in the fourth level of football – Serie D, stream I. Fast and technical, he showed his qualities in 22 games by scoring 5 goals, assisting three more and thereby attracting the attention of teams from the third and second tier.

Pisa was interested in him already in the winter, but then a transfer was not reached. After all, a few days ago the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed his file. Mert is already in camp with his new team in the resort of Bormio and is waiting for the first control meetings with his new team.

Pisa's head coach is Milan legend Filippo Inzaghi, and Mert Durmus will have the chance to prove his qualities. In fact, Italy was clearly a predetermined destination for him, as he was selected for trials in Milan as a 12-year-old after a camp held in Bulgaria by the giants from Milan.

During the camp in Bormio, the blue and black will have four control matches, three of them against amateur teams from the fourth, fifth and sixth leagues. The first is tomorrow at 18:30 Bulgarian time against Altolario's team. On July 27, Pisa meets Pro Patria from Serie C.

The championship in the second Italian division starts on August 17th, and Pisa hosts Spezia with Petko Hristov.
