Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said the club are still in the process of build their team and has less depth than many of their rivals in the Premier League, reported Topsport.
The Dutchman blamed injuries for last season's disappointing eighth-place finish in the Premier League. According to him, it is strange to have more than 60 matches per campaign.
"This is really too much. We're not the only team that struggled with injuries, and other clubs struggled with the same," he told Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad.
"Last season we had constant injuries to players in the same positions, all the way at the back. At one point we had almost no defenders available. We were and still are in that process (of building). If you compare our squad to the other top clubs in the Premier League, we certainly have less in terms of depth. That's exactly why it was so difficult for us to deal with these injuries," added Eric ten Haag.
