British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton expressed his full support for Ralf Schumacher after the former driver from Formula 1 and younger brother of the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher shared publicly that he is in a relationship with a man, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
"I'm glad he took the step to admit it without fear of public backlash. It's clear why he couldn't share something like this years ago, but things are changing for the better. We live in an age that must reject the fear of difference. I applaud him for his courage. He has my full support. I hope more people will follow his example," said the 39-year-old Hamilton.
The seven-time world champion is one of the fiercest defenders of the LGBT+ movement. He has the LGBT+ flag painted on his racing helmet, thus making a call for more equality. He has repeatedly sent messages for more sanctions against the manifestations of homophobia at every level of society.
