Kokpar and jamb atu were among the most attractive sports competitions that took place during on the first day of the Nomad Games, which are held until September 13 in Astana. In the first type of sport, two teams of riders try to throw a model of an animal on their territory as many times as possible. And jamb atu is shooting with a bow while the rider moves with his horse.

The teams of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan played a spectacular game. The hosts achieved a convincing victory over their rivals with a score of 16:0. In the first half, Kazakhstan led 8:0. In the second part, the contestants managed to raise the score to 16:0.

In the next matches of the tournament, competitors from China and Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, Hungary and Turkey competed.

Rules of the Cockpar game: each team has 10 riders, but only four players from each team play on the field. Participants have the right to change their horses. The game itself consists of two halves of twenty minutes each. It is held on a field about 200 meters long and about 80 meters wide. On the side of the field there are gates about three and a half meters in diameter and one and a half meters high. The task of the players is to pick up the carcass (note ed. model) of the goat from the ground, drag it and throw it into the goal of the opposing team.

Jamba atu – Archery while the rider moves the horse is another spectacular sport that took place within the day. Here the gold medal was won by the representatives of France.

Competitors tested their strength in speed and agility in Hungarian shooting style at a distance of 100 meters. Archers were required to hit the target as many times as possible. Gold medalist Raphael Malle now holds the title of world archery champion in the individual and team events. Raphael discovered horseback shooting at the age of 8 and became the champion of France when he was only 12 years old. Mongolia's Altanuyaga Nergui took silver and France's Gaetan Blot won bronze. After the Hungarian, riders will compete in Asian, Turkish and Kazakh styles.

On the first day of the 5th World Nomad Games, the hosts won the most medals. Kazakhstan received 14 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze medals. A total of 25 medals. In second place are Kyrgyzstan with a total of 14 medals. And Russia is in third place with 10 medals.
