One of Barcelona's key players Lamin Yamal did not take part in the match with Real Sociedad from the 13th round of La Liga, at "Anoeta", lost 0:1, reported Topsport.
He picked up a bruise in the Champions League game against Red Star in the week. Despite traveling to San Sebastian, the winger was left out of Hanzi Flick's squad and won't even be on the bench.
The surprise came when Flick's eleven were announced and Lamin's absence even from Barcelona's reserves.
A scenario is now opening up where Barcelona will demand that Lamin be recalled from the national team for the matches against Denmark and Switzerland, the latest Nations League engagements for Spain, who have already qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition.
A decision is yet to be made by the Spanish Football Federation whether they will have the Barcelona player go to Las Rosas to be examined by the national team medical services.
In Spain's previous games, Lamin played against Denmark but picked up an injury and missed the match against Serbia, returning early to Barcelona.
Barcelona's official statement on this occasion reads:
"Lamin Yamal suffered a serious injury during the match against Red Star. He underwent treatment in recent days, but the discomfort continues. The player is out and his recovery will determine when he returns".
