Joseph Guardiola admitted that he would be happy if he could work with a South American team, DPA reported. He enjoys the multicultural atmosphere of the Club World Cup and believes that football in countries like Brazil and Argentina represents a great challenge, BTA reported.
The Spaniard has no intention of leaving the Manchester club before the end of his contract in two years, but he does not rule out such an idea, he said himself before the match against Al Ain in Atlanta.
"Why not? Many, many good things in the history of football have come from South America. You know, especially from Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay. I would say all countries. Great players come from there to Europe because of the prestige and the more serious economic opportunities. It's incredible, I love being in this tournament and playing against Latin American teams. The culture, the way their fans experience every attack is great. We have to experience that," the coach added.
Guardiola made it clear that he is taking the tournament very seriously. City started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.
"You can say it's boring to play here, but it's once every four years and I would like to come back again. We have to win trophies to be here. I want to get to the end, that's the truth. It's an honour to be here.
