"It is important to stay firmly on the ground. We can make even better games. Our other rivals are very good. We must not lose concentration. We must not change many things, that is the most important", commented the coach of the Bulgarian national volleyball team Gianlorenzo Blenghini after the victory in the League of Nations. with 3:0 (27:25, 25:23, 25:19) against Japan in front of 6000 in Burgas, BNR reported.
"The most important thing is that even though we were behind in the first game by a few points, the boys managed to concentrate and win it. This is something we constantly talk to them about, that under any circumstances and situations they should not lose confidence and give up. It was really difficult, but this is the way. I can say that I am really happy with this start", commented the Italian.
"The fact is undeniable that we have service players and this helped us in the first game. We made the right decisions in difficult situations. From now on, we must continue to seek improvement and be ready to face such situations in order to win", he added.
I am very happy that we managed to please the Bulgarian audience. I really got goosebumps when I saw how many people would shout for us. I am glad that we did not disappoint them and managed to win", announced one of the Bulgarian team's players Simeon Nikolov.
His brother Alex announced that he was pleased with the fact, because the team pleased the fans: "We managed to beat the Japanese team, which has been a difficult opponent for us for a long time. First match in Burgas, first win, what could be better than that."
"It's great! Especially during the anthem, it's something incredible. As I've repeated three times already, the audience was a big factor. In addition, we managed to enter the match with a lot of character and put pressure on the Japanese team right away. We simply managed to outplay them today. Yes, my series of serves in the first game and that of Iliya Petkov were at a very key moment. Certainly, if the Japanese had foreseen it, maybe the match would have developed differently, but we managed to score a few serves, so it was great. And I'm really excited to play with my brother. It's great, it's a lot of fun. We do interesting things for the fans too. I definitely see a lot of progress in him even from a month ago," Alex said.
On Friday, Bulgaria will face Slovenia in their next match of the tournament.
