Daniil Medvedev has parted ways with his coach Gilles Cervara. This is clear from a post by the coach on his Instagram profile, BTA reports.
As is known, in the first round of the US Open, Medvedev lost to Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 3:6, 5:7, 7:6(5), 6:0, 4:6.
"Our fantastic eight-year adventure together is coming to an end. As a symbolic nod to life, it is after this tournament that we end our cooperation", wrote Servara.
Under his leadership, Medvedev won 20 ATP titles, and in 2022 he was number 1 in the men's world rankings for 16 weeks, TASS recalls.
The 29-year-old Russian suffered his third consecutive loss in the first round of a Grand Slam tournament in New York. Medvedev won his only Grand Slam victory this season in January at the Australian Open.
The 44-year-old Servara has been working with Medvedev since the summer of 2017. In 2019, the Frenchman was named the best coach of the season.
