What happened yesterday gave me a feeling for 2020, because there was a wide palette of all kinds of political presence in the protest. Now we saw people protesting - from the “blue“ and “green“ zones, because of the price hikes, to small businesses, which are directly hit, because both insurance premiums and the maximum social security income are being raised. We also saw the ordinary citizen who receives a salary and knows that he will become poorer. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the “FACT“ studio and the “Conversation” show; Nastimir Ananiev, leader of party “Volt“.
“We saw almost all the opposition forces at the protest – we saw PP–DB, “Velichye“, “Vazrazhdane“, we also saw people around Borisov. Maybe Borisov himself wanted to start this fire – such a feeling remains in me, after we see what happened later. Maybe Borisov himself caused all this noise that led to the withdrawal of the budget“, Ananiev added.
“There is one nuance that is very important. “Vazrazhdane“ want to overthrow this government because of entering the euro, and “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria“ supports entering the eurozone. It is key that we enter the eurozone. The government is very likely not to serve out its term, to have next year still greater turbulences and it will fall. But let us be in the eurozone, because this absolutely guarantees the income of all people. People with low incomes are the ones who resist the euro the most, and they do not understand that the euro protects them“, the guest also shared.
“If the board falls now, the lev will lose its value. There cannot be a fixed lev-euro exchange rate for 27 years. Our economy is not that strong – we have lost a lot of what we had. There is no way our currency can be that strong if we do not have a board. And one of the biggest victories for every Bulgarian citizen is the fixed exchange rate at which Europe agreed to exchange the lev for the euro. Europe agreed to convert the lev into the euro at a rate that is advantageous for us“, the guest also commented.
“The fact that the budget was withdrawn – everyone will try to claim victory. This will irritate some people, who came out to protest because they don't support this budget, because it hits them directly in the pocket. There were many apolitical people who said: “I will become poorer next year because of this budget“. And that's why they were on the street. The budget is the basic law of the state, which determines how each person will live. We see in elections that the majority of Bulgarians are apolitical – with 30% coming out to vote. But when you reach into their pockets, then every person gets nervous, comes out and says: “Enough is enough“, Ananiev also shared.“
