But what the people want in the square has no ethnic character and does not involve any ethnic community. It involves the Bulgarian nation as a whole. Peevski's position expresses a desperate attempt to grab onto something in this free fall in which he is currently. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio „FACTI“ and the show „Conversation“ by Rumen Yonchev, chairman of the Agricultural People's Union.
„The Genre "The counter-protest was good - remember 2013. There were protests and counter-protests then. My fear is that now they will try to do something similar. But everyone has seen the result. Society is more against this - against the people who are trying to govern," the guest explained.
“We saw a protest vote in the elections - smaller and smaller. And this protest vote suited the establishment, because they told us: “There were elections, wait for the next ones“. That was generally their position, the ruling party. And it didn't get them anywhere. It will even less reassure those who took to the streets and squares now. And they will come out again, because apparently in several previous elections the message: “Go away“ was not understood. And now people are in the square again, to expel them permanently“, added Rumen Yonchev.
“I had the honor and the opportunity to be at the first rallies in Sofia and Plovdiv in those distant years – 1990, 1991. Back then, a lot of people really came out, remember what Tsarigradsko Shose was like. I mean that because back then, people came out under the banners of democracy. But today, we have seen the emergence of so many people from different directions, not particularly organized, but very united around the goal: “Go away!“ That was it. Not “remove the budget“, but “go away, we don't want you“. That's what the square is roaring now“, the guest also commented.
“The big mistake of this government is that it failed to read the falling turnout in the elections, and so they united them against themselves everyone. There is a very old rule in politics: when you pick people's pockets, when you take people's bread - then things are getting out of control. And that's exactly what the government has tried to do now, through the state budget. Such changes, made by a government that enjoys such low trust, are impossible. And they should have known that. There are quite experienced people in the government - not budget officers, but politicians who should have read that they have a minority government. Because about 10% of Bulgarians voted for this "majority" that rules us. Such a government cannot make such changes in the state's policy that pick people's pockets, because that involves everyone, Rumen Yonchev also shared.
