We will see the essence of the government from this program that they launched. This is a right-wing program. It envisages no changes in the tax system, which, no matter how we look at it, carries an emphasis that is only found in Bulgaria. This is stagnation. Taxes could be differentiated in relation to economic units. If you produce goods with a high degree of added value, high-tech products that provide development - let the tax remain low there. But when you are involved in gambling, when you are a bank that makes super profits, or an insurance company, then taxes should be much more serious. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ Prof. Nako Stefanov, Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of History, lecturer at the Department of "Languages and Cultures of East Asia" at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
“The unfair thing is that we have a striking social injustice in our country - both the poorest pay 10% and the richest pay 10%. The lowest incomes could be left tax-free, and then there could be a progressive scale. If you earn $10,000 in the US per year, you pay 10%, but then there could be a progressive scale. If you earn $500,000, you pay 36%. Corporations pay 21% tax. There is nothing like that in our country“, commented the guest.
“The Minister of Regional Development talks about concessions. We have already given the airport "Sofia" on a concession, and we don't even charge a fee from the concessionaire. Not to mention the concessions in Chelopech, on “Dundee Precious“, for gold, which are offensive. In Africa they charge a 15% tax on the value of the gold mined, and in our country they charge 1.5%. This is madness. This program is actually a right-wing oriented program“, said Prof. Stefanov.
“Incomes are controlled primarily by stimulating production. As for the prices of agricultural products, in a very short time it was possible to think about stimulating the production of basic types of products that are extremely important for society, so that hunger does not occur among a certain part of the people. Instead, different industries should have been developed - livestock breeding, dairy farming, grain production, etc. However, nothing has been said about these topics yet and nothing is planned in this program“, shared Prof. Stefanov.
