Boyko Atanasov in front of FACTS: The prosecutor's office is now clearly a political player (VIDEO) - 1

What has been happening in our lives in recent months is the result of some accumulated randomness, brought to the end of this nine-month time horizon that the Denkov government had given itself. I expected unusual things to happen and they did. We are currently seeing reports of interrogations under the Criminal Code being circulated in various media. This is quite disconcerting and disturbing to me. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio "FACTS". and the show “Conversation“ Boyko Atanasov, investigator in the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.

“The prosecutor's office is now clearly a political player no matter who is at the top. It doesn't matter who the Attorney General is because the officers under him are the same. We've seen them in parliament fiddling with interrogation records. This is something new, but what kind of judicial reform are we talking about when pictures are taken from phones that have been seized under the Criminal Code. We have no reforms in KONPI, in the prosecutor's office, and all this is done with one whole – not to change things and it is done well. Things are removed as far as the forces allow, because in this case the end justifies the means. And one moment we see people who preoccupy the whole society with their own survival. I don't like this at all“, the guest also shared.

“At the moment, we are working on an NPC, which has not been reformed for a long time – we have more poetic faces, for example… We have witnessed the Constitution being modeled by people who do not understand what it is. But this has a history. In 2015, on the initiative of Hristo Ivanov – minister in Borisov's cabinet, texts were adopted that prohibit prosecutors, investigators, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and employees of the armed forces from running for parliament. These are people who understand judicial changes, and they have no right to be deputies. We have artists in the parliament – nothing personal and they understand the job but can't make changes to how the law is applied. People are victims of this model, let's figure it out”, the lawyer also said.
