The Russian state corporation „Rosatom“ and the Serbian authorities have started a substantial dialogue on the project to build a nuclear power plant, Serbian ambassador to the Russian Federation Momčilo Babić told „Izvestia“.
„We are seriously talking to „Rosatom“. I think there is no better company in the world to build a nuclear power plant. I am confident that there will be progress in the coming years, because we need electricity. "We will do it anyway," he said.
Serbia had a law in place since 1989 that banned officials from carrying out activities, coordinating and discussing issues related to the construction of nuclear power facilities and the nuclear fuel cycle in the country. This ban was lifted at the end of 2024.
