If the United States does not accept a reciprocal position on the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), Russia will have to take measures, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, RIA Novosti reported.
“If it is not implemented by the other side, then, of course, measures will have to be taken“, Peskov told reporters, speaking about the expiration of New START.
He said the lack of such agreements could lead to serious dangers.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was ready to continue adhering to the central quantitative limits under the START treaty for one year after February 5, 2026, according to the Telegram channel "Radiotochka NSN“.
START is a treaty to limit strategic nuclear weapons, that is, long-range missiles equipped with nuclear warheads.
