”He is no longer mobilized, he has been released, his life is out of danger, he is currently in a safe place”. This was announced by the father of 28-year-old Lyubomir Kirov to bTV.

Our compatriot was detained by the Odessa Mobilization Service TCC on September 1.

"His mother is coming home from work on 01.09. He says he will go out into the street to breathe fresh air. After 10-15 minutes he doesn't come home, she hears noise, he's gone", says the father.

The family found Lyubomir at the mobilization service, they alerted the Bulgarian consulate, who failed to respond to the local authorities.

Lyubomir moved to Ukraine in 2018 to take care of his grandmother. His mother is Ukrainian, which is why Lyubomir Kirov holds both Bulgarian and Ukrainian citizenship. As of today, 28-year-old Lyubomir is also disabled.

"His right hand was crushed by a construction press. He is unfit for any military service. How will he shoot when he can't bend his right arm... They don't send him to fight, they send him to die," says the father.

According to the father, Lyubomir is in the Kirovgrad region near the front, before that in other regions. Our Foreign Ministry reacted with a position to the media.

"According to the current legislation of Ukraine, persons with Ukrainian citizenship have certain obligations when they are on the territory of the country, including mobilization."

Earlier, the presidency called for clarification of the case of the man's forcible detention. Minister Georg Georgiev noted that populism and politicking in such situations are unnecessary.

"Whenever the Bulgarian state has worked, it has done so with a view to a positive result, not to extracting a dubious public dividend," Georgiev said.
