Families and friends of victims of the attack by the radical Palestinian group “Hamas“ against Israeli territory on October 7, 2023 honored the memory of the dead with a minute of silence this morning – on the second anniversary of the bloodshed that started the war in the Gaza Strip, Agence France-Presse reported from the scene of the event, BTA reports.
The mourners gathered at the site where the “Nova“ music festival was held at the time, attacked by Palestinian Islamists. According to Israeli data, 370 people, mostly young people, were killed there.
The conflict in the Gaza Strip began with the unprecedented cross-border attack of „Hamas“ against Israeli territory, in which, according to Israeli authorities, 1,219 people were killed and 251 hostages were taken captive in the coastal enclave.
„Hamas“ still holds 48 Israelis, of whom 23 are believed to be alive.
According to data from the Palestinian health authorities, controlled by „Hamas“, more than 67,000 Palestinians have died since the start of the Israeli offensive in Gaza, reports DPA. These data are considered reliable by the UN and a number of international organizations.
