Fires broke out at energy facilities and fuel depots in Russia's Volgograd region as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack, Reuters reported, citing a statement by Volgograd Region Governor Andrey Bocharov. He specified that firefighting teams are currently extinguishing the fire, BTA reported.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed 19 Ukrainian drones over several Russian regions last night, including 9 drones over the Volgograd region.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in turn announced on the "Telegram" app that last night they had struck the "Korobkovsky" gas processing plant and the infrastructure for transporting crude oil in the Russian Volgograd region. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has registered explosions and a fire at the gas processing plant, as well as at the "Efimovka" oil station.

The Ukrainian military is working to assess the extent of the damage they caused to the facilities.

The Russian state nuclear energy corporation "Rosatom" is preparing to restore the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported earlier today. The situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP does not raise concerns from the point of view of nuclear safety, RIA specified.

The Zaporizhzhia NPP has six Soviet-type VVER (Water-Water Power Reactor) reactors - VVER-1000 V-320, cooled with water and with a water substitute and operating with uranium 235 (an isotope of uranium, which is the only nuclear fuel found on Earth in its natural form). All reactors are currently shut down.

In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry reported today that Russian forces have struck port facilities and energy infrastructure in Ukraine's Odessa region that were used by the Ukrainian army, the Russian news agency Interfax noted.

Five people were injured in a massive attack last night in Odessa and the region, the head of the Odessa regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, reported on Telegram.

"At night, Russia massively attacked Odessa and the region with drones. Most of the enemy targets were destroyed by air defense forces, but as a result of debris there is damage to civil, port and energy infrastructure," Kiper wrote.
