Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's joke about a Lada car and a refrigerator, talking about the slow deliveries of F-35 fighters and Patriot air defense systems, Focus reports.
Earlier, Rutte recalled a joke about a salesman who announced that the car would be delivered in 10 years. The buyer was interested in whether it would be delivered during the day or in the evening, to which the salesman replied: “Well, they will deliver the refrigerator during the day“. The Secretary General used the joke to illustrate the slowdown in defense production in Europe.
In response, Zakharova wrote on Telegram:
“Fantastic, of course. I didn't understand what the joke was about, but I told it. And the joke is not about consumer goods, but about the priority of the military-industrial complex. Whatever you say, Mark, whatever you say.“
