One of the US envoys involved in negotiations between Israel and “Hamas“ said that Israel must “find a way to help“ of the Palestinians to integrate more actively in the Middle East, reports Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
“The most important message that we tried to convey to Israeli leaders after the end of the war is that in order for Israel to integrate into the region, we must find ways to help the Palestinian people prosper and develop“, commented Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump, to “CBS News“.
The interview, recorded in advance, was conducted before the Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip yesterday and before the arrival of Kushner and US envoy Steve Witkoff in Israel today.
“The situation is extremely difficult and dynamic“, Kushner said. “Right now “Hamas“ is acting exactly as one would expect a terrorist organization to do, trying to reestablish its power and position. But if a real alternative emerges, “Hamas“ will fail and Gaza will not pose a future threat to Israel.“
When asked about the prospect of a Palestinian state, Kushner noted that “the word “state” means different things to different people“.
“Our focus now is on building an atmosphere of security and economic opportunity for both Israelis and Palestinians so that they can live in peace and sustainability,” he concluded.
