The observance of the truce in Gaza is essential for the delivery of humanitarian aid and for saving lives, a representative of the UN World Food Program (WFP) said, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.
Abir Etefa, a spokesman for the WFP, stressed to journalists that the opening of all border checkpoints to the Palestinian enclave is imperative. “The truce is vital. This is the only way to save lives and ensure the fight against hunger in the northern part of Gaza“, he said after Sunday's fighting, which was the most serious since the peace agreement came into force on October 10.
