A key advantage for Kiev! The Flamingo missile is more powerful and flies further than the Tomahawk - 1

The Ukrainian "Flamingo" cruise missile has a range of up to 3,000 kilometers, and it has already been used to strike Russian territory and has a key advantage for Kiev, writes The Independent, quoted by Focus.

According to the publication, while Europe and the United States are considering what weapons to give Ukraine, the country is moving forward, developing its missiles and drones.

The latest innovation is the FP-5 "Flamingo" cruise missile with a range of 3,000 km, a maximum speed of 900 km/h and a payload of over a ton, the article notes. This missile is believed to have already been used to strike deep into Russia.

"Flamingo“ is equipped with a rocket and a Soviet-era turbofan jet engine bolted to it. Some of these engines, according to the author of the article, have been found in landfills.

The range of the "Flamingo“ missile is twice as long as the American Tomahawk missile, it carries twice as much explosives and costs about the same, The Independent points out.

The main advantage of the missile is that it is completely under the control of Ukrainian forces. The publication recalls that Britain and France have been restricting the use of "Storm Shadow“ cruise missiles for many months. In turn, the United States has limited Ukraine's ability to use American ATACMS missiles. America has also not yet made a decision on the transfer of Tomahawk.

However, Ukraine "can launch the Flamingos at any target it deems appropriate". In this case, Kiev is not limited by what Ukraine's allies say about its actions in the fight against Russian troops, The Independent points out.

The publication notes that the prototypes of the missile were painted pink to "facilitate their return after test flights".

According to the author of the article, the Flamingos are designed to deprive Moscow of the ability to wage war against Ukraine. The attacks on Russian oil refineries have had a tangible effect, with Russia losing about 20% of its fuel capacity and fuel prices rising by almost 10%.
