Trump demands BBC apologize - 1

American President Donald Trump said yesterday that he felt obligated to take action against the British media outlet BBC, which he said had misled its audience, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

“I think I have to do it because people cannot be allowed to do this“, Trump told the American television station “Fox News“.

The president accused the BBC of distorting his speech from January 6, 2021, which he described as “reassuring and good“ and presenting it as radical. “This is truly unbelievable”, Trump added.

The accusations stem from a BBC documentary broadcast in October last year, just before the US presidential election. The material includes parts of Trump's speech when his supporters stormed the Capitol, creating the impression that he was inciting violence.

A YouGov poll of more than 5,000 people and published yesterday shows that 57% of Britons believe the BBC should apologize to Trump, while 25% believe it is not necessary.

The president's lawyers have sent a letter to the media demanding that the BBC apologize and remove the controversial material from its platforms by 22:00 GMT on Friday. Otherwise, legal action will be taken with a claim for damages in the amount of one billion dollars.
