Estonia will allocate 3.5 million euros to Ukraine for the purchase of Starlink satellite communication stations, the Baltic country's Defense Ministry announced.
“The 3.5 million euros allocated for the purchase of Starlink communication systems came from Estonia's aid package for Ukraine for 2025. The funds intended for the joint purchase of Starlink will be transferred to Ukraine through an IT coalition led by Estonia and Luxembourg“, the press release said.
Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur, quoted by the ministry, noted that Ukraine itself had requested assistance in providing satellite communications.
Russian security services earlier reported a shortage of Starlink terminals in Ukrainian Armed Forces. The 57th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region has lost almost all of its Starlink terminals. Thus, Ukrainian forces in this area are practically left without communications and command and control.
