Germany faces strategic turning point in new geopolitical reality - 1

Germany is facing the need to reconsider its role on the world stage and its place in the international security system due to the increasingly unpredictable stability of alliances. This was stated by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in a speech to the Bundestag, referring to the changing positions of the United States and the impact of negotiations to stop the war in Ukraine on the global security architecture, reports „Reuters“, reports News.bg.

„The geopolitical chessboard is being rearranged with extraordinary speed - the models, the layout and the pieces themselves are changing. Alliances are already transforming much faster than we could have imagined just a few years ago," Pistorius told MPs.

For Germany, as part of the European Union and NATO, this means rethinking its own position and its long-term role. "It is no longer clear which partnerships we can rely on and for how long they will remain reliable," the minister noted.

His statement comes against the backdrop of increased uncertainty about the future commitment of the United States to European security, as well as the processes surrounding the peace talks on Ukraine, which are accelerating the global realignment. Pistorius emphasized the need for Germany and Europe to develop greater strategic autonomy, strengthen their defense capacity, and take a more active role in European security initiatives.

His words were taken as a clear warning that Europe is entering a stage in which it cannot unconditionally rely on its current partners and is forced to build a new concept for its own security and influence.
