The work on deploying the Oreshnik missile system on the territory of Belarus will be completed by the end of this year. This was stated by the State Secretary of the Security Council of the country Alexander Volfovich during the meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Bishkek, the Belarusian news agency BelTA reported, BTA reports.
In response to a journalist's question whether the system would actually be deployed in Belarus, Volfovich was categorical: “Without a doubt. Presidents do not make decisions just like that. The decision of our presidents - of Belarus and Russia - is not up for discussion. Everything is being implemented according to plan and by the end of the year the task will be fully accomplished.“
He added that he had recently reported on the subject personally to President Alexander Lukashenko. According to him, the head of state keeps the issue under strict personal control. “We have no right to default, there is no other option”, emphasized Volfovich, quoted by the BelTA agency.
