Any discussions on the deployment of Turkish troops in Ukraine can only take place after a peace agreement on a ceasefire is reached between Ukraine and Russia, RBC-Ukraine reports, quoted by Focus.
Turkey, which maintains good relations with both Moscow and Kiev, announced that it is ready to consider the deployment of troops only after specifying the specific conditions.
„First, a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine must be established. "A mission framework with a clear mandate should then be established and the extent to which each country will contribute should be determined," the Turkish Defense Ministry said at a press conference.
Earlier this week, on November 25, French President Emmanuel Macron indicated that French, British and Turkish troops could be deployed in Ukraine after a peace agreement is reached. He stressed that there would be no lasting peace if the Ukrainian army was limited in its ability to defend itself.
The United Kingdom also confirmed its readiness to deploy troops to Ukraine after a ceasefire.
