The Ukrainian armed forces announced that they had struck the refinery in the Russian city of Saratov and the Saki air base on the occupied Crimean peninsula overnight, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
According to the Ukrainian army's statement, a series of explosions were recorded in the area of the refinery, followed by a fire. The military added that they had also hit fuel and lubricants depots in the Russian-occupied parts of eastern Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said that over the past week its forces had cleared 6,585 buildings of Ukrainian troops in the city of Pokrovsk amid fierce fighting.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that Moscow's forces had surrounded Pokrovsk and now controlled about 70% of the city. However, Kiev stressed that Ukrainian units were putting up serious resistance and that heavy fighting was continuing in the center.
The Russian military also reported that 54 attempts by Ukrainian forces to break through the ring around the city had been repelled over the past week.
