NATO foreign ministers will discuss evolving security threats and review measures to strengthen the Alliance's deterrence and defence at their meeting in Brussels today.
They will exchange views with their Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Szybiga and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas in the framework of the NATO-Ukraine Council.
"Looking ahead to our next summit in Turkey, we will review evolving threats and challenges to our security, including from Russia, and how we are progressing on the important decisions taken by leaders in The Hague," NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said yesterday.
This is about the commitment of allies to invest 5% of GDP in defense.
At the same time, Rutte stressed that this is only the beginning of a long journey. He recalled that the security of the Pact countries is deeply linked to that of Ukraine.
"Russia is not alone in this war, as China continues to be its decisive supporter, and Iran and North Korea also support it. I expect the allies to announce new contributions in the coming days. It is clear that we have a challenging program ahead of us," the Secretary General also said.
Bulgaria will be represented by Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev.
