US President Donald Trump has threatened that Colombian leader Gustavo Petro "will be next" in Washington's fight against drug trafficking if Washington does not take appropriate action.
Reporters asked Trump if he planned to hold talks with the Colombian president. "I haven't really thought about it. Colombia produces a lot of drugs, they have cocaine factories and they sell it to the US. So he better come to his senses or he'll be next," Trump replied.
According to CNN, US forces have destroyed more than 20 boats off the coast of Latin America in recent months under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking, killing an estimated 90 people. After one of these strikes, the president of Colombia said that the American operation had killed a fisherman from his country, not a drug dealer.
