Syria announced that it had killed a senior ISIS official, in cooperation with the anti-jihadist coalition, Agence France-Presse reported.
Special forces carried out an operation in Al-Buayda near Damascus in cooperation with intelligence and in coordination with the international anti-jihadist coalition, the Syrian Interior Ministry said. The operation neutralized the terrorist Mohammed Shadahada, known by the nickname Abu Omar Shaddad. He is considered one of the main leaders of IS in Syria.
The ministry later announced that in a subsequent operation, the leader and three members of an IS cell in the Damascus area were detained and weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
