The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had struck several targets of the pro-Iranian movement "Hezbollah" in Lebanon, saying they had struck a training center and weapons depots, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
For its part, the Lebanese news agency NNA reported a "series of airstrikes" in the mountainous areas south of Nabatieh and Jezzine, as well as in the eastern part of the country.
"A number of weapons depots and terrorist infrastructure were hit, which were used by "Hezbollah" to prepare terrorist attacks against the State of Israel," the Israeli army said in a statement. Among the targets was a training center that served the forces of "Ar Radwan", an elite unit of the Lebanese Shiite movement.
Despite the November 2024 ceasefire between the two countries, the Israeli army continues to regularly carry out strikes on Lebanese territory, claiming that they are directed against "Hezbollah".
Under strong pressure from the United States and fearing an increase in Israeli strikes, Lebanon has committed to disarming "Hezbollah" and by the end of the year to disband the group's military structures between the Israeli border and the Litani River, about 30 kilometers to the north.
Israel has questioned the effectiveness of this process and accused "Hezbollah" of rearming. The Shiite movement has rejected calls to lay down its weapons.
The ceasefire agreement ended two months of open war between Israel and Hezbollah, during which the movement's leader Hassan Nasrallah and other commanders were killed in Israeli strikes.
The war followed a year of skirmishes along the Lebanon-Israeli border amid the Gaza war sparked by an Oct. 7, 2023, attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.
Yesterday, the Israeli military announced it had killed a member of the Quds Force, the foreign operations arm of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in Lebanon. According to information from Israel, he planned attacks "from Syria and Lebanon".
According to Lebanese authorities, three people were killed in Israeli strikes yesterday.
More than 340 people have been killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon since the start of the ceasefire, according to an AFP count based on data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
