We want cooperation with Europe, the US Permanent Representative to the EU institutions in Brussels, Ambassador Andrew Puzder, told MEPs from the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee today, BTA reports.
Changes in European legislation would be of great benefit, he added and called for making it easier for technology companies from his country to operate in Europe. According to him, the economy will soon be driven by artificial intelligence, but for this purpose it will need a lot of energy, data centers, data itself and rare fossil minerals.
The ambassador expressed hope that an agreement between the US and the EU on fossil fuels will be signed in the coming days, as well as that Europe will soon confirm the trade agreement with Washington.
The greatest interest of the US is for the EU to progress economically, Puzder said. He noted that the EU is vital in strategic and cultural terms for the US and is a pillar of his country's economic progress. A strong Europe is a stronger trading partner and better able to help us around the world where we are fighting evil forces, he pointed out.
The ambassador added that after arriving in Brussels a few months ago, he was surprised to find that the EU has a very close view with Washington on issues such as China and immigration. He added that the US and the EU share a desire to see an end to the war in Ukraine.
