South Korea is seeking to restore a no-fly zone along the border with North Korea under the suspended 2018 inter-Korean military pact, Unification Minister Chun Dong-yong was quoted as saying by the "Yonhap" agency.
Chun revealed the idea at a media briefing after expressing regret earlier this month over drones sent into North Korea by South Korean civilians, which Pyongyang described as a violation of its sovereignty.
"In cooperation with our military authorities, the government will review and seek to restore the Sept. 19 inter-Korean military pact, including the designation of a no-fly zone," he explained he.
The minister added that the action is aimed at preventing any unintentional military clash and aims to build trust between the two countries.
