After the US early this morning allowed the sale, transportation and unloading of oil and oil products of Russian origin loaded on tankers before April 17, Moscow's reaction was not long in coming.
Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the Russian President for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, noted that the measure concerns over 100 million barrels of crude oil in transit.
„The United States has allowed transactions with Russian oil loaded on tankers until April 17. The document is valid until May 16. Thus, despite active political resistance, the lifting of sanctions on Russian oil has been extended,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
He noted that Russia continues to interact with the United States on economic and energy issues.
"More and more countries, including the United States, understand the systematically important role of Russian oil and gas for global economic stability", he also wrote.
Dmitriev stressed that sanctions against Russia are ineffective and destructive, and the extension of the term of their lifting by the United States on Russian oil will cause "anxiety and hysteria" in the EU and the UK.
