Ukrainian drones attack Russian Baltic port of Vysotsk, fire breaks out - 1

A fire broke out near the Russian port of Vysotsk during an attack by Ukrainian drones in the Leningrad region. According to the governor of the region, "there were no injuries".

The port of Vysotsk is a strategic maritime transport hub in Russia, located on Vysotsky Island in the Vyborg Bay of the Baltic Sea. It is located about 90 km from St. Petersburg and 50 km from the Russian-Finnish border.

The city's coal terminal specializes in the transshipment of Russian coal for export to Northern and Western Europe. It has 4 berths with a total length of nearly 681 meters.

The oil terminal has a modern complex for transshipment of petroleum products with a capacity of over 12 million tons per year.

Vysotsk also has a terminal of the company “Kriogaz-Vysotsk“ for the production and export of liquefied gas.

From 2023-2024, the port has been actively developing grain exports, being the first in the Baltics to accept wheat via inland waterways.

The maximum draft of ships reaches 13.2 meters at oil terminals and 11.9 meters at coal terminals, which allows servicing large vessels with a deadweight of up to 150,000 tons.

The port operates year-round, with icebreakers used during the winter months.

It is connected to the main railway network and has extensive storage areas (about 22 hectares).
