Outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban offered today to step down from the leadership of his right-wing Fidesz party, but a decision on the matter will be made at a party conference in June, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The center-right TISA party, led by Peter Magyar, won the parliamentary elections in Hungary on April 12, ending Orban's 16-year rule. This raises questions about the future of Fidesz.
Fidesz will vote on a new party leadership at a conference on June 13, lawmaker Eric Banki was quoted as saying by the Hungarian news agency MTI.
Fidesz did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
