US President Donald Trump said that during his upcoming visit to China he will hold a lengthy conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which will also touch on the war with Iran, reported "Reuters", quoted by BTA.
"I do not think we need any help on the issue of Iran. We will achieve our goals one way or another - peacefully or otherwise," Trump told reporters as he left the White House.
According to him, Washington and Beijing have many important topics to discuss, emphasizing that Iran is not among the main priorities, since, according to him, the situation is "totally under control" of the United States.
The meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping will be their first in-person meeting in more than six months. It comes as the world's two largest economies seek to stabilize their relationship amid trade tensions, the conflict over Iran and other international issues.
The US president is leaving for China as the war with Iran continues and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict have failed. China maintains close ties with Tehran and is among the main buyers of Iranian oil.
In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly called on Beijing to use its influence over Iran to encourage a deal with Washington and end the military escalation that began after US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February.
Trump is expected to arrive in Beijing on Thursday, with formal talks with Xi Jinping to take place on Thursday and Friday. This will be his first visit to China since 2017.
