Alexander Moiseev, appointed this month as the commander of the Russian naval forces, will participate in a significant military conference in allied China, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA, referring to today's information from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Reuters notes that the announcement of his involvement comes at a time when the two countries have come under increasing criticism from the West over their close relationship.
On April 2, Admiral Moiseev was appointed as the full-fledged commander of the naval forces, after he was announced on March 19 as acting in place of Nikolai Evmenov.
He will take part in the Western Pacific Naval Symposium in the Chinese city of Qingdao, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, quoted by TASS.
The Russian commander will also hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with the top military commanders of the Chinese navy. Reuters reminds that yesterday US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken criticized Chinese aid to the Russian military industry, saying that the main support for Moscow's military actions on the territory of Ukraine comes from Beijing.
The forum in China will take place on Monday and Tuesday. China's Xinhua News Agency informs that in the conference on "Sea of Shared Future" over 180 naval chiefs from 29 countries will participate.
