"Meta" has been declared an extremist organization in Russia and its Facebook and Instagram platforms have been banned in the country since 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, Reuters reported.
The agency did not receive a response to its request for comment on the case from either Meta or Stone, director of the Communications Company.
Interfax quoted the defendant's lawyer, Valentina Filipenkova, as saying that the verdict would be appealed.
"I asked for an acquittal,", she was quoted as saying.
Russia's Interior Ministry opened a criminal investigation into Stone late last year without disclosing specific charges.
RIA quoted state prosecutors as saying Stone had posted online comments advocating "aggressive, hostile and violent acts" against Russian soldiers participating in what Moscow calls a "special military operation" in Ukraine.
