An American weapon proved ineffective on the front in Ukraine, reported defense-ua.com, citing a senior US Department of Defense official.
He did not specifically name the weapon, but he described it in detail, and the description matches the GLSDB missiles, which on paper can hit enemy Russian forces at a distance of 140 kilometers.
The US military has a similar air-launched version, but a ground-launched version does not yet exist in the US forces' inventory. It turned out, without giving details why, that the missiles in question had failed at the front.
The ammunition in question didn't work for a number of reasons, and “when you send something to people who are fighting for their lives and it doesn't work, they try three times and then just throw it away...”
This weapon is not yet in service with the US military, and Ukraine became the first to test it in real conditions on the battlefield.
However, this news also has a positive side: it will give the manufacturer an impetus to improve the rockets and make them effective. There is no mention of whether the problem was the launch, trajectory or engagement of enemy targets.
