The free trade agreement between Serbia and China will entered into force on July 1, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced today after a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
China is ready to import higher-quality agricultural products from Serbia, and Serbia is welcome to increase direct flights between Belgrade and Chinese cities, including Shanghai and Guangzhou, Xi told a joint news conference with his Serbian counterpart. The free trade agreement between Serbia and China was signed in October in Beijing.
Today, Xi and Vucic also signed a joint statement on building a Chinese-Serbian community with a shared future.
„The strategic choice of both countries is to build a Chinese-Serbian community with a shared future in the new era. The goal is to realize the dreams of both peoples for a better life. The foundation and driving force of the community comes from the strong support and broad participation of the two peoples,” Xi was quoted as saying by China's Xinhua news agency.
Members of the delegations of Serbia and China signed at a ceremony in Belgrade 28 memorandums of cooperation and understanding in the fields of infrastructure, trade, science, ecology, technology, culture, sports, etc.
Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic wrote on his Instagram profile that these agreements are of extreme importance for Serbia and today will remain written in golden letters in the history of bilateral relations.
