The UN Security Council called for an independent and immediate investigation after the discovery of mass graves near hospitals in the Gaza Strip, BTA reported. According to reports, hundreds of people were buried in the graves.

In a statement, the members of the Security Council expressed their deep concern at the information about the discovery of mass graves in and around the “Nasser“ hospitals. and “Al Shifa“ in Gaza, where hundreds of bodies, particularly of women, children and the elderly, were buried.

Council members stress the need for accountability and call for investigators to be granted unconditional access to all sites where mass graves have been found in Gaza to conduct an immediate, independent, full, transparent and impartial investigation in order to establish under what circumstances these graves were dug.

The council did not specify who might carry out this investigation. He stresses that it is important for families to learn the fate and whereabouts of the bodies of their missing loved ones, in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip have suffered greatly since the start of the military operation carried out by Israel in Gaza after the bloody attack there by fighters of “Hamas” against South Israel on October 7. The Israeli army has accused Hamas of using Gaza hospitals for military purposes, but the Palestinian movement rejects the allegations. In April, the World Health Organization stated that the “Al Shifa“ is just an “empty shell”, littered with corpses.

High-ranking representative of “Hamas“ stated that the Palestinian movement wanted calm and a deal for an actual exchange of hostages for prisoners, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted the war to continue, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

„Hamas“ has not suspended nor withdrawn from the ceasefire talks, said the movement's top representative, Khalil al-Haya. “The occupiers turned against the proposals of the mediators”, he added to the “Al Arabi“ television.

The Palestinian movement said that efforts to reach a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip are back to square one after Israel rejected the offer of international mediators.

The Lebanese Shia movement “Hezbollah“ fired about 35 rockets from southern Lebanon at Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Israeli forces said they intercepted 15 of the rockets, with the rest falling in the city or on open ground. There is damage to buildings and cars.

No people were injured or killed, largely because most of Kiryat Shmona's residents left the city at the start of the Gaza war last October.

The rocket strikes today also caused fires in the city and ten firefighting teams were sent to put out the flames.

In response to the shelling, the Israeli military carried out airstrikes on five buildings used by “Hezbollah” in southern Lebanon and shelled and hit the position from which the Lebanese Shiite movement opened fire on Israel.

Two volleys of rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip by fighters of “Hamas” in southern Israel, in which a woman was wounded in the Israeli city of Bersheba, reported France Press, quoted by BTA, referring to the Israeli forces.

Nine rockets were fired from the area of the city of Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. Five more rockets were then fired from central Gaza at Bersheba, which is about 40 kilometers from the dividing line between Israel and the enclave.

Sirens have sounded for an attack in Bersheba. None of the rockets fired today were intercepted by Israeli forces, the Israeli army said. The first nine rockets fell in the desert area of Bersheeba district, and of the remaining rockets, one fell in the city itself, while the others fell in its area. A 37-year-old woman was injured and was taken to hospital.

The armed wing of “Hamas” – “Izzedin al-Qassam Brigades“ claimed responsibility for the missile launch in a statement published on Telegram.
