Stevo Pendarovski left the presidential residence in Skopje "Villa Vodno" after his presidential term expired and handed over the functions to the newly elected head of state of the Republic of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, with whom they also held a private meeting, BTA reported..

Through his Facebook profile, Pendarovski thanked the citizens "for their trust" and to all the associates with whom he has worked over the past five years.

Pendarovski assumed the presidential function in 2019, when he won the run-off election against Gordana Siljanovska, but on May 8 of this year he lost to her by a significant margin of votes.

Gordana Siljanovska took the oath in the parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia without pronouncing the state's constitutional name, as promised in her election campaign, prompting Greece's ambassador to North Macedonia to leave the chamber in protest. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece defined the behavior of Siljanovska as an open violation of the Prespa Treaty, and the President of the EC Ursula von der Leyen warned the Republic of North Macedonia to respect the Prespa Treaty.

According to the Minister of Justice of North Macedonia, Krenar Loga, "disrespecting the constitutional name of the state renders the oath of Siljanovska null".
