Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit China on May 16 and 17, Reuters reported, citing a Kremlin statement. This will be his first trip abroad since taking office for a new six-year presidential term.
"At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to China on May 16 and 17 as his first foreign trip after taking office, the Kremlin announced.
Putin and Xi "will discuss in detail the full range of issues of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation, identify key areas for further development of Russian-Chinese practical cooperation, and exchange views in detail on the most pressing international and regional issues" ;.
The Russian president is also expected to meet with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, with whom they will discuss cooperation in the economic and humanitarian fields, notes the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
