By the end of June, Spain will deliver another batch of combat tanks "Leopard 2A4" to Ukraine. German production, together with anti-aircraft missiles "Patriot" and other ammunition, the Ministry of Defense announced in Madrid, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
Defense Secretary Margarita Robles confirmed the delivery during a video conference with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the ministry said.
Last year, the government of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez sent 10 Leopard 2A4s, and in March announced that 19 more would be delivered this year, with the first 10 promised by the end of June and the remaining nine in September .
Spain had about 100 "Leopard 2A4" in stock, as well as with significantly more than 200 pieces of "Leopard 2A6". The latter are reserved for the Spanish army.
Yesterday, Robles highlighted the "significant efforts" that Spain is making to support Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion. She mentioned in particular the training of the Ukrainian troops.
Spain will support Ukraine as long as necessary, the minister said.
