More than 50% of the territory of the city of Volchansk in the Kharkiv region is under the control of Russian forces. This was reported to TASS by the coordinator of inter-parliamentary relations with the parliament of the LPR, State Duma deputy Viktor Vodolatsky.
„After the curtain of fire that our units released the day before in the southern part of Volchansk, the territory under Russian control has become larger, already over 50%,” Vodolatsky said. “We are moving forward carefully but confidently.“
He also noted that the Russian troops are "successfully fulfilling their assigned tasks". “We have a new task, not to mention small towns that we liberate along the way - I am talking about Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Krasnoarmeysk,” he said, noting that the liberation of Volchansk would open the way for Russian forces to those cities.
Kiev admits that the situation in the Kharkiv region is extremely tense for Ukrainian troops. On May 14, the Ukrainian General Staff announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been forced to “move to more advantageous positions” in the region of Volchansk and Lukyantsi. The military leadership also announced the transfer of additional reserves to the region. At the same time, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, admitted that some of these parts are being transferred from other directions. He held a meeting of the headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on May 16 in Kharkiv and called this area extremely difficult. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the capture of some settlements in the Kharkiv region, and on May 14 - the continued advance into the depths of the enemy's defenses.
