Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will meet with Chinese Premier Li Qian in Seoul today, reported NHK, quoted by BTA, citing the Japanese government.
At the meeting, Kishida plans to raise the issue of China's ban on Japanese seafood imports, as well as the peaceful resolution of issues related to Taiwan, among other topics, the Japanese publication said.
The Japanese prime minister wants to confirm the two countries' intention to promote "mutually beneficial relations based on shared strategic interests,", it added.
Kishida left for Seoul today to take part in a trilateral summit with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and South Korean President Yun Suk-yeol on Monday, according to NHK. This will be the first summit of the leaders of the three countries in four and a half years.
Before the summit, Kishida will also hold a bilateral meeting with Yun, Japanese media reported. The two are likely to agree on closer communication between their senior officials and ministers.
The two leaders are also expected to seek increased cooperation on North Korea, which is accelerating the development of its nuclear and missile weapons.
