US Ambassador to Moscow: We regret any loss of civilian life - 1

< p>US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy said the US regrets any loss of life to civilians after she was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said, quoted by Reuters, BTA writes.

Miller also said that the US is providing Ukraine with weapons so that it can defend its sovereign territory, including Crimea.

Earlier today, the Kremlin directly accused Washington of attacking the Crimean Peninsula with American ATAKMS missiles, which killed at least four people and injured 151 people. Moscow officially warned Ambassador Tracy that retaliatory measures would follow.

The administration of US President Joe Biden is expected to announce tomorrow new military aid to Ukraine worth $150 million in the form of ammunition, which Kiev's forces badly need, two unnamed US officials told The Associated Press.

The upcoming delivery is expected to include, in particular, ammunition for the HYMARS rocket launcher systems. What is specific here is that the HYMARS launchers can also launch ATAKMS missiles, the provision of which is seen by Moscow as a potential step towards an escalation of the conflict, which may require retaliatory actions from Russia.

One of the AP sources said he could not confirm whether the new military aid package would include ATAKMS missiles, but noted that the package would not include cluster munitions.

The new delivery also includes armor-piercing weapons, small arms and grenades, as well as 155 and 105-mm artillery shells, which Ukraine badly needs.
